TAE40122 - Certificate IV in Training & Assessment Skills Gap Training
Please note: this course does not include revision of the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. If you feel you require revision of the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment you already hold, it is your responsibility to obtain this prior to attending Skills Gap Training and Assessment course.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Hold the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and provide this qualification upon enrolment.
COURSE DURATION
Learners are given twelve (12) months to complete the course.

There are two learning pathways you can take
Pathway 1 – Part Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Part Training & Assessment Pathway
If you have completed a previous version of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment with either
- TAEDEL301 Provide work skill instruction or
- BSBCMM401 Make a presentation/BSBCMM411 Make presentations
as the elective then you will receive Credit Transfer for one of these plus the core unit TAEDEL402 Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace. Then you will complete the Skills Gap Training through the Training and Assessment Pathway.
The delivery methods available for Pathway 1 are Self-paced and Blended. More information regarding the delivery methods is below.
You will need to detail a credit transfer form and provide a copy of your Qualification, Statement of Results and/or Statement of Attainment (if appropriate).
Pathway 2 – Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Pathway
If you have completed a previous version of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment with either
- TAEDEL301 Provide work skill instruction or
- BSBCMM401 Make a presentation/BSBCMM401A Make a presentation
you will receive Credit transfer for one of these plus the core unit TAEDEL402 Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace.
You will need to detail a credit transfer form and provide a copy of your Qualification, Statement of Results and Statement of attainment (if appropriate). In addition to these you will need to detail an RPL kit and provide evidence specific for the gap in each unit and the kit identifies exactly what you can provide. In this pathway the cost will be $200 per unit for RPL and $50 per unit for Credit Transfer (HBA past TAE Learners pay nothing for credit transfer).

Pathway 1 - Self Paced
Cost: $1,200
Structure: Self paced completed in your own time.
Overview: Our Self-Paced delivery is designed for those who need a flexible learning structure. This delivery method is entirely an online, self-managed approach to the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Skills Gap Training.
Features: The Self-paced delivery method is completed in your own time, at your own pace and is ideally suited to highly motivated self-starters who have some industry knowledge and experience. We provide our Learners support throughout the learning-pathway via, telephone, email, and our industry leading online Discussion Forums.
All course materials are downloaded electronically, allowing immediate commencement upon completion of enrolment.
Pathway 1 - Blended
Cost: $1,650
Structure: 5-day workshop
Our Blended Delivery method is HBA’s most comprehensive way to complete the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Skills Gap Training. Learners are then required to continue their learning and complete their assessment tasks in their own time and at their own pace after the 5-day workshop.
You have 2 choices to attend the 5 day workshop;
- face to face in the training room at a HBA venue, or
- through our online virtual classroom from the comfort of your own home or office
Even if you attend in the actual classroom, you will still be required to logon to the virtual classroom as your trainer will be bring together all participants, face-to-face and virtually. If you would like to know more about the virtual classroom an explanation is provided ‘Virtual Classroom’ tab below.
Features:
During the workshop, learners are introduced to the elements of each unit and provided the opportunity for skill development and practice through group learning activities and completion of selected practical assessment tasks. You will also be involved in role-plays and the commencement of small group and/or individual learning activities under the support, guidance and supervision of a qualified and experienced TAE trainer.
This delivery method also includes a self-paced component. Upon completion of the workshops you will be required to complete the remaining practical work and the knowledge questions workbook.
Virtual Classroom
Overview: You can attend the Blended delivery of the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Skills Gap Training through the Virtual Classroom
Each Virtual Classroom has a host location in which your trainer will be facilitating from and will co-exist with a face-to-face classroom.
HBA’s Virtual Classroom uses online virtual platforms including, GoToMeeting, Microsoft TEAMS or ZOOM to allow learners to connect to the Trainer and other learners in a virtual setting. Once you enrol you will be sent a confirmation email which has a link for you to download your workbooks and resources, plus a link to the Student forum. A Welcome email will be sent to you by your trainer a few days prior to the course commencing which will have the links that will allow you to login to the Virtual Classroom.
You and the trainer and all the other participants will be able to see and hear each other interact through out the workshops. You will be shown the features of the virtual classroom and all its benefits and as you progress through the course, you will start using the platform to deliver your own presentations and assessment. Our trainers will provided you with all the help you need to get connected and stay connected.
What will you need to access the Virtual Classroom: To log on to the virtual classroom you don’t need to be a computer Wizz-kid. After enrolment we will provide you step by step instructions which are simple to follow. You will need to have a modern computer that has internet access, it also needs to have a web cam and microphone that the other participants and the trainer can see and hear you on. Whilst laptops a perfect for this purpose, we would recommended that you have at least one other computer monitor/screen connected to your computer, as you will have many documents and web-browser windows open at the same time, it will help you to “virtually” spread out your material.
Need somewhere quiet? At HBA we understand that a quiet place can be hard to come by. To help with this, HBA is opening its North Sydney learning center to those who want somewhere quiet to attend the virtual classroom. Additionally, a technical support person will also be available to you during the workshop should you need it.
Pathway 2 - Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Cost: $400 per unit
The TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Skills Gap Training has the following entry requirement:
- Hold the TAE40110/TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and provide a copy of this qualification upon enrolment
Before commencing your RPL application, you must:
- Ensure you meet the entry requirement. If you do not meet the requirement, please contact HBA to discuss
- Enrol online
If you meet the entry requirements and have enrolled, download the RPL application and commence your submission.

The units of competencies deemed equivalent from the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment to the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, will be granted Credit Transfers.
These equivalent units of competency’s and the one’s successfully completed through the skills gap training, allows HBA Learning Centres to issue you with TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
