National Safe Work Month – Competition Time!

October has been designated National Safe Work Month by Safe Work Australia and HBA, as a leading provider of Work Health and Safety qualifications, would like to do our bit to help raise awareness.

HBA is going to offer four (4) weekly competitions in October and each week we will have a question related to the theme as designed by Safe Work Australia.

The themes and questions are are:

Week 1 (Entries accepted between 27 Sep – 8 Oct) – Working together to manage risks at work

Provide an example of how a team you were involved in, worked together to manage a risk. Make sure you provide a clear description of the risk. (Minimum of 100 words)

Week 2 (Entries accepted between 9-15 October) – Working together to protect workers’ mental health

Mental health is important to every person on Earth and often, those under the greatest pressure are subject to issues such as PTSD etc. Identify the worst example of mental health you have observed in the workplace and how did your team work to assist the individual/s involved? (Minimum length 100 words)

Week 3 (Entries accepted between 16-22 October) – Working together to support all workers

Every worker, regardless of their position, needs the support of those around them, (even those that think they do not). The healthiest teams are generally that way as the individuals work together as a team to support each other. Tell us about when you were involved in a similar situation. Explain what the initial situation was and what the outcome looked like. (minimum 100 words)

Week 4 (Entries accepted between 23-31 October) – Working together to ensure a safe and healthy workplace

We all know there are a myriad of hazards that can cause an incident or injury in a workplace. The hazards can be physical, biological, psychosocial, viral, ergonomic etc. Describe a situation you have been exposed to that had substantial hazards and elaborate on how your team worked together to make sure everyone was safe (minimum 100 words)
