Withdrawal of qualifications withdrawal of qualifications

Withdrawal of Qualifications

Over the 18 years of being an RTO we have often heard of qualifications being withdrawn due to improper assessment processes.

We note the National VET Regulator (ASQA) has been concentrating on RTO’s that have not met the required assessment standards and requirements. It is a shame on many levels when this happens because it taints the VET industry plus it can have a huge downstream effect on innocent people who paid for a course in good faith.

Consider this scenario:

  • Kin Geri RTO issues a qualification to Mae Geri a Learner from Wherever.
  • Mae Geri obtains a position based on holding a qualification with Gluteus Maximus RTO.
  • On the basis of Mae Geri’s assessment activities, the RTO issues Meta Carpal with a qualification.
  • ASQA withdraws Mae Geri’s qualification.
  • You can guess the rest of the story from here, and it is all bad for everyone involved.

At HBA we have heard many times “why do you guys make us do so much work to get a qualification” and “my friend is doing this with another RTO and they do not have to do anything like the volume of work I have to do” we hear this but the reality is we will not take any short cuts and our assessment instruments cover off every single Element of Learning, Performance Criteria, Performance Evidence, Knowledge Evidence and Assessment Conditions that are contained in the various Units of Competency we use to form the qualifications we issue.

Have a read of the latest notice from the National VET Regulator, they have and are continuing to withdraw tens of thousands of qualifications.
