Professional Development

Professional Development for Training and Assessment | Clause 1.16 of Standard 1 of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 stipulates;

1.16.  The RTO ensures that all trainers and assessors undertake professional development in the fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment including competency based training and assessment.

It is our experience that Trainers and Assessors tend to conduct Professional Development (PD) for their base VET competency. Many, however, do not conduct it for their Training and Assessment qualification. Rest assured during Audit, the National VET Regulator will ask the RTO for your PD register and PD plan. Failure to have it current and relevant to both the vocational competency you train and or assess, PLUS, your training and assessment qualification, is a non-compliance. This can have a devastating effect on an RTO and, of course, your employment.
